With the country being in lockdown we thought it was a good time to share some more inspiration of what to watch (you can read our post sharing some of the best car films here). Here are 5 car and motorcycle racing documentaries for your viewing pleasure.

1. TT: Closer to the Edge

This is a 2011 British documentary film which is narrated by Jared Leto and follows the Isle of Man TT motorcycle race. The leading riders, Guy Martin and Ian Hutchinson are featured and it charts the racers’ dedication and the risks involved in their bid to win.

2. Senna

Senna is a 2010 British-French film that depicts the life and death of Aryton Senna. It focuses on Senna’s racing career in Formula One, from his debut in the 1984 Brazilian Grand Prix to his death in an accident at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

3. Williams

This documentary tells the story of the Williams Formula 1 team, from its inception to the present day (2017). There is a big focus on the life, career and family of Sir Frank Williams who founded the team.

Narrated by Brad Pitt, this documentary shares the story of six of the fastest motorcycle racers in the world, including Valentino Rossi. It follows their battle for supremacy in the Moto GP World Championship.

McLaren follows the story of Bruce McLaren, the New Zealander who founded the McLaren Motor Racing team. An interesting look at his life and humble beginnings, it shares interviews, archive footage and recreations.
