1. Causeway Coastal Route, Northern Ireland
The Causeway Coastal Route is one of Northern Ireland’s biggest adventures, stretching almost 200 miles from Belfast to Derry~Londonderry. The route makes for a truly scenic drive with stunning landscapes, and also offers highlights such as Game of Thrones filming locations and Bushmills Whiskey Distillery.
2. Snake Pass, Peak District, England
This is a road that every car enthusiast should drive and is probably the most famous of driving routes in the Peak District. It crosses the Pennines and it’s highest point is 1679 feet above sea level – the views are staggering.
3. Cotswolds, England
If you want a more leisurely drive, with country pubs aplenty then a drive through the idyllic Cotswolds is a good idea. Start in Chipping Campden and work your way through the scenic villages such as Bourton-on-the-water and Bibury (if you google the most beautiful villages in England this is the first hit, and is therefore very popular with tourists). You could even tie in your trip with the Salon Privé Classic & Supercar show at nearby Blenheim Palace.
4. Black Mountain Pass, Brecon Beacons, Wales
This is a 20 mile section of road so isn’t very long but is so worth a drive. Described as a rollercoaster ride on tarmac it sweeps through the Welsh valleys with twists and turns. There’s breathtaking mountain scenery and some of the best views in the UK.
5. North Coast 500, Scotland
This is the ultimate road trip (often called Scotland’s Route 66) around the North Coast of Scotland and even has its own website. The route is 516 miles and a 5-7 day trip is recommended to really make the most of the drive. There are never ending back roads, beautiful bends and wide country roads – this has it all.
